About
Us
I always enjoyed the creative aspect of painting, but couldn't stand the stink! Sometimes home owners would mention the smell and ask questions like, "Is it bad for the baby?" And I could only guess, "Well, I don't think it's good!" And so Eco Painting began in West Marin, California in 1998. Back then there was hardly any information about natural finishes on the internet, so I used to trudge over to the library and dig through How-To books and make my own paints out of milk, flour and clay. Now dozens of eco sites are springing up with non-toxic recipes, products and related information. This is making things a lot easier for Eco Painting!
One of our goals is to increase people's awareness about Eco painting products and services. Ironically, many of today's Eco recipes and application techniques were used hundreds of years ago—and that's because they really work—but also emerging are products of the highest technology, which I find very exciting because now I can paint surfaces like floors, exteriors and metal with Eco. This is good for the customer too, as conventional paints are full of volatile organic compounds which expose people to health risks, including toxic by-products that end up in landfills and mostly, your own back yard!
We are products of our environment, and as such, we should create environments that serve our needs. Eco Painting believes in education and technology that promotes sustainability. We believe that spreading this awareness will lead to a reduction of pollution, one household at a time. See how far we've come. Now clean energy, water and air aren't far away! Thanks for stopping by, and please contact us if you know of a related resource that would benefit anyone interested in Eco Painting, or if you would like to contribute any links or related information.
