My Junk!

This was an old satellite dish I turned into a "Save the Oceans" project. It's not finished yet but I wanted to put it up here to illustrate the diversity of recycling options we have when it comes to art. These companies don't recycle their dishes, which seems ludicrous because there's nothing wrong with most of these dishes. They have a weather resistant coating and there's thousands of them in back yards everywhere.

3 Pieces

Here's three pieces of scrap wood I got from a dumpster (no, I didn't dive... just a stretch). I used linseed oil, recycled latex, Bioshield glaze and sharpie.

Speakers

These still worked, but not very well. I cut them lengthwise to keep them closer to the wall. Recycled latex and glaze.

I went for a beat-up look on this one and finished it with wax for a dull sheen.

The Other Side

Why not use the back half of the speakers? Latex, glue, glaze, sand and rock from the beach.

Blue Jungle

A large scrap of plywood, about 3 x 4 feet, from a building project in my neighborhood. Recycled house paint, faux and caulk.

Work Tray

I was just using this scrap piece as a palette and it turned into something —what I don't know— lol, just another abstract accident I guess, but I like the heavy grained texture and knot-holes, so there. Salvaged oil, latex, glaze, faux, tape measure, pencil, stuff.

Blackbeard

This was a automotive slide board for working under cars, but the wheels were broken and someone threw it on the street. I thought it made for a pretty cool frame and cut a piece of scrap to fit within the borders. I don't remember what I used, only that it was salvaged paint and I put a clear-coat sealer over the top.
